Minimum Requirements:

An Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with one to three years of relevant work experience in an office environment is required. The applicant must demonstrate a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. Candidate must possess strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy. The assistant must be able to work independently, make minor decisions while exercising good judgment, prioritize tasks, and follow oral and written directions. A valid North Carolina driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record is required. A National Career Readiness Certificate and bilingual are preferred.

Position Duties:

The assistant provides administrative support to the Academic Foundations department. Task requires confidentiality, initiative, and judgment to establish work priorities and organize tasks to meet required schedules efficiently and effectively, and at times while under pressure to meet deadlines. The successful applicant must be able to provide excellent customer service in a timely, cooperative, courteous, and professional manner. He/she must be able to utilize office machines and compose minutes for division and committee meetings promptly, utilizing correct grammar and spelling. The assistant will be responsible for distributing and collecting the daily mail, college, and course report, ordering supplies, receptionist duties, and phone coverage for the department. The assistant will be responsible for entering schedules and drops into Colleague, as well as running appropriate reports from both Colleague and Informer.
