Overview

VT Industries, one of the country’s largest family-owned and operated manufacturers of commercial & residential doors and countertop surfaces, is growing. VT’s Rome, GA. facility is seeking a highly-motivated, hands-on Senior Engineer with a proven record of leading multiple capital & process-related projects from concept through design, justification, installation, & optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct root cause analysis and develop timely solutions for issues arising on current product and in the production processes
  • Review production program equipment, hardware, and tooling; make recommendations for repairs or replacement
  • Develop and implement production processes for new products, product enhancements and product changes in conjunction with the Engineering Manager. Install related fixtures and tooling, as required
  • Collect, analyze, summarize and present production and process data, information and trends to management
  • Supervise safety compliance and execution
  • Select, mentor, train, develop and evaluate team members as required
  • Lean Management maintenance, mentoring, and training
  • Maintenance of new and existing production equipment
  • Maintain a well-organized library of equipment manuals and related reference materials
  • Maintain a well-organized and adequate inventory of maintenance supplies, parts, and materials
  • Drive Measurable Continuous Improvement
  • Drive, Lead, and Train in Project Management
  • Teach Lean Manufacturing concepts
  • Understand and apply Ergonomic requirements to eliminate work hazards and improve work safety
  • Provide input to systems that track cost and progress
  • Design processes that satisfy Federal, State, and Local safety laws
  • Develop and support methods to collect suggestions and feedback for continuous improvement from all areas of the Company
  • Track labor efficiency monthly for production areas
  • Identify opportunities for improvement
  • Maintain knowledge of new and developing manufacturing technology, equipment, and applications; apply this knowledge to recommend and implement new technology and processes
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years manufacturing engineering experience
  • Creative with the ability to use modern technology in the production process
  • Must be able to communicate well, both written and verbally, across the organization (production floor to upper management) and be able to efficiently collaborate with team members to achieve project goals, and contribute positively to the business
  • Proficient in use of automation including PC, main frame business systems (AS 400), scan technology as it relates to inventory, time and attendance
  • Solid understanding and experience in lean manufacturing, lean principles and concepts
  • Experienced in Kaizen event participation and training
  • Problem solving know how and willingness to mentor others in solving problems
  • Must have a strong passion for product and process excellence and customer satisfaction
