The Verona Area School District is looking for a proven leader to build and strengthen our Bilingual / ESL programs and ensure instructional equity for all our students. The Verona Area School District is a PreK 12 school district of approximately 5,800 students located near Madison, WI. The student population demographics are: 29% students who qualify for free or reduced lunch, 37% students of color, 14% students from multilingual homes, and 8% of the students are students with disabilities. There are two elementary schools and one middle school that house our Two-Way Immersion (TWI) program.
In addition to the Bilingual Program duties, this position also includes oversight and leadership in instructional equity. We recognize there are significant opportunity gaps for many of our students of color and students who come from low-income homes. We have great staff members who are working very hard and want all their students to be successful, but we must continue to challenge ourselves as a district by identifying legacy practices and policies that have served as barriers to student success. We also seek a leader who has a proven record of developing and leading staff development on matters of instructional equity.

The best-qualified candidates will have a portfolio of evidence showing their leadership has reduced / eliminated achievement gaps, elevated the learning and achievement of all students and put in place practices / school policies that ensure equitable opportunities for all students. Also, candidates must be able to demonstrate evidence leading and building bilingual education programs that have led to increased learning and achievement for students. Preference will be given to candidates with significant administrative experience. Bilingual skills are a plus.
Salary, Benefits, Length of Contract: This position works a 260-day (12 month) contract with starting compensation that is negotiable but will be no less than $133,155 with an exceptional benefits package.
