Overview

As a General Surgeon, you are no stranger to the challenges and opportunities of civilian practice. With your medical knowledge and experience, you are capable of making a significant, lasting impact wherever you go. Are you ready for something more?

Navy medicine has opportunities for Surgeons to serve America’s Navy for full

or part time duty. Navy surgeons typically enjoy an accelerated career track,

with opportunities to care for the medical needs of the brave men and women who

serve our country, their families and other beneficiaries who have served. It’s

a great responsibility-and an honor-of the highest order. The rewards for

meeting such challenges are, of course, also great.

Navy healthcare offers the ability to focus on the finer points of medicine in

state of the art facilities, without the financial and business complications

of a private practice. Start-up costs, malpractice insurance, staffing concerns,

equipment, and office management don’t exist for Navy surgeons.

Eligible surgeons can receive up to a signing bonus. Our

Financial Assistance Program provides financial incentives to physicians in

select residencies and fellowships leading to appointments on active duty.

Eligible candidates receive a $45,000 annual grant while in residency or

fellowship training and a monthly stipend in excess of $2,200.

For part-time Reserve surgeons, our Training in

Medical Specialty program is designed to provide financial and other incentives

for medical professionals while in select residency and fellowship programs leading

to appointments in the Navy Reserve. Eligible candidates receive a monthly

stipend in excess of $2,200 and $250,000 Student Loan Repayment Eligibility, as
