ABOUT THE ROLE

The Staff Accountant is primarily responsible for producing financial statements, adhering to accounting processes,

and supporting the Financial Controller in performing accounting duties for multiple restaurant locations.

SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES

Close

  • Participates in fiscal period close
  • Demonstrates recognizing and implementing efficiencies in accounting and financial close processes

Reconciliation

  • Performs thorough and complete reconciliation of assigned balance sheet accounts

Reporting

  • Ensures accurate recording of journal entries
  • Prepares and critically reviews restaurant Profit & Loss (P & L) report
  • Maintains required records, reports, and files in an organized manner
  • Ensures month-end accrual analysis/reporting is submitted on a timely manner

Accounting Processes

  • Reviews the general ledger detail
  • Identifies trends, errors and reclassify as needed
  • Prepares and provides annual audit schedules and supporting documents
  • Prepares variance, trend, and fluctuation analysis connected with actual results vs budgets, previous periods and previous year data reporting
  • Performs data mining of large sets of data and automates these processes
  • Support the financial controller with year-end financial audit

Compliance

  • Assists with reviewing and managing compliance with payroll , taxes, and accounts payable processes
  • Research accounting discrepancies and GAAP guidance/application as needed

Collaboration

  • Assists store leadership with questions and inquiries related to Profit & Loss statements, accounting processes and financial systems.
  • Assists with ad hoc accounting requests and projects
  • Collaborates with the Accounting Team and other Teams in the organization and responds to requests in a timely manner

. Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required
  • Minimum of 2 years of accounting and financial reporting experience
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and accrual basis accounting required
  • Proficient Excel skills required (Reference Look-up and formulas to automate tasks
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites software: Excel and Word
  • Reconciliations, and Concur Expense is preferred
  • Full-service restaurant accounting experience preferred
  • Strong understanding and experience in accounts payable and payroll preferred
  • Ability to multi-task with different systems and processes
  • Ability to adapt to change quickly
  • Possesses a strong organizational skill
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Must be open to feedback
  • Must be able to self-check and review own work with accurate and minimal supervision
