This position will perform a variety of clerical duties, including customer service, data entry and retrieval, filing, typing and records storage, and other related duties as required. Must be able to work 10 to 20 hours per week.Job Duties (This lists major duties and requirements of the job and is not all-inclusive.)Greet and assist visitors with routine matters.Answer telephone, route calls, and take and relay messages.Respond to request for information related to specific unit of assignment.Type, proofread, and distribute correspondence, forms and reports.Enter and retrieve information from an automated data system.Maintain and update filing and/or records systems, mailing lists, and other specialized record keeping information.Maintain and monitor office and/or specialized supplies and related equipment.Review all work for accuracy and completeness, and maintain confidentiality of all information.Photocopy, collate, and distribute reports and documents.Photograph recorded documents onto microfilm.Sort and disseminate mail to appropriate staff and office.Operate a variety of office equipment, i.e. computer, fax, copier, sorter, folding machine, postage machine, and etc.Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office with proficiency in using Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher.Account and purchasing card reconciliation, maintaining records and related files.Required QualificationsAny combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide required knowledge and abilities. To qualify: graduation from high school or the equivalent, supplemented by specialized clerical training and two years of clerical experience.Preferred QualificationsCandidates with knowledge of general office practices and procedures; chronological, alphabetical, and numerical filing procedures; data entry and verification procedures, and proofreading procedures are encouraged to apply.Candidates with experience answering telephones and taking accurate messages; maintaining confidentiality of information; communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing are encouraged to apply.Candidates with experience in operating a variety of office equipment including personal computers, facsimile machines, photocopiers, scanners, postage meters, and calculators are encouraged to apply.ScheduleThis position requires working a variable schedule; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.*Must be able to work 10 to 20 hours per week.*Compensation GradeTemporary Hourly$15.00 per hourDepartment InformationExtension is an outreach arm of the University, funded by county, state and federal dollars, that extends unbiased, research-based knowledge from the University of Nevada, Reno to residents of southern Nevada.
