The Associate Vice President of Contracted Operations works in conjunction with the Regional Medical Director and Sr. Vice President to support their roles. The position will be accountable for helping coordinate and manage strategic planning, business development and project management of the Dallas and Fort Worth Region. In addition, this role will help provide management oversight of support team and initiatives including, contracted physician leadership, clinical operations, and centralized corporate functions.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Supporting Region Leadership in effort to sustain professional relationships with contracted physicians, market and clinic leadership to ensure continued market growth, adherence to Focus on Care and other operations strategies
  • Responsible for supporting Region Leadership in driving all key performance measures for markets including IOI, membership and defined contribution margin. Also manages achievement of targets for % HCC Covered and Quality Metrics as defined on an annual basis for all network PCPs
  • Collaborate with region leadership to ensure understanding of corporate direction, metrics and initiatives. Lead messaging and communication efforts, provide feedback and resolve issues and concerns
  • Work closely with team to help drive operational efficiency between Region Leadership and expansion and payer relations staff to ensure successful transition and effective problem resolution during pre and post-acquisition for newly acquired practices, including phases of contract processing
  • Support cross functional projects and initiatives through the development of key milestones, project plans and policy development. Responsible for organizing, distributing, and managing agendas, deliverables, action plans, project plans, and various other tools
  • Accountable for managing action items and processes required to see projects through by engaging multiple teams
  • Collaborate with Region Leadership and support staff to achieve defined contribution margin targets for the contracted PCP networks
  • Provides oversight to region staff to ensure they can communicate / train PCP’s and their related staffs on effective use of metric tools (ePRG, pink box reports, %HCC covered reports, etc.)
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or a related field / (8 additional years of experience beyond the required years may be substituted in lieu of degree)
  • 10+ years of progressive responsibility in a health care environment, and at least 5 years of director-level or higher experience
  • 7+ years working with contracted Physician groups
  • 5+ years working with the Specialty, Ancillary, Payers, Hospitals and Primary Care landscape within the Dallas / Fort Worth market
  • 5+ years of provider relations experience at a Management level
  • Ability to travel up to 50% within assigned markets
  • Proven leadership skills in matrix management / team oriented environment
  • Proven strategic thinking skills
  • Full comprehension of human resources policies and practices related to physicians and providers
  • Solid management and supervisory skills (i.e. employee selection, training, coaching and development as well as process management)
  • Understanding of health plan budgeting and financial dynamics
  • Proven ability to develop and manage project plans and to communicate needs of plan / budget to key players and senior management
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with ability to interface effectively internally with all levels of staff and externally with a wide range of people including physicians, office staff, hospital executives, medical groups, IPAs, the press, and community organizations
  • Excellent problem solving skills with effective follow through
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
