KEY RESPONSIBILITIESThe Counsel provides legal and administrative support for all of the Trusts legal matters. Counsel will report directly to the Trusts General Counsel. The Counsel will also work closely with the New York City Law Department, which provides outside counsel services pursuant to the agreement between the Trust and the City, as well as law firms retained by the Trust.Other responsibilities include:Drafting, reviewing and negotiating leases and other types of real estate agreements; providing legal support for complex real estate development deals.Drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts, such as construction and consulting contracts, and requests for proposals and other types of procurement offerings.Under the direction of the General Counsel, assisting with the preparation of all materials for quarterly Board of Director meetings, including maintaining document control over all Board documents during various stages of drafting and editing.Anticipating, raising and mitigating potential legal issues which could impact the Trust.Assisting with contract administration and local law compliance responsibilities.Maintaining and organizing hardcopy and digital files in accordance with the document retention policy.Reviewing and tracking receipts of insurance certificates and other required deliverables from contract parties, tenants and permittees.Assisting with litigation matters.Responding to Freedom of Information Law requests.Monitoring developments in case law, legislation and regulatory matters for effects on the activities of The Trust.QUALIFICATIONSEducation:JD from an accredited law school required. Admission to the NYS Bar required.Experience:At least one to three years of private or public sector experience in transactional law. Detail oriented with strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively, multi-task, set priorities and meet required deadlines. Experience with not-for profit entities preferred, as well as government entities or clients doing business with government entities.Skills and Abilities: Strong communication and writing skills.Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to prioritize workload and manage projects.Enjoys tackling novel issues and working strategically and innovatively to solve legal problems.Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.TO APPLY Please send a cover letter and resume as a single PDF document to with Counsel in the subject line.
