Position Title:JuniorProgram Assistant, Membership & University Relations(P/T 20 hrs/week, duration 1/25/2021 6/20/2021)Supervisors:Director, Membership Relations (100%)Program Assistant, Membership & University RelationsLocation:TeleworkNYU Unit:Provost / Scholars at Risk NetworkJOB DESCRIPTION:Scholars at Risk membership team is seeking a highly organized, proactive and detail-oriented individualwho understands that quality support and administrative functions are essential to SARs achieving maximum efficiency and impact.The Junior Program Assistant provides support to the SAR membership team, which works to develop university engagement in all areas of SAR programming, including protection of threatened scholars and related country conditions research; research, teaching, publications and advocacy for threatened scholars; and research, trainings, and publications on academic freedom and related higher education values.The position provides primary administrative support for the membership team, including but not limited to promoting membership services; enhancing external and internal communication; systematizing and managing data; preparing letters, emails and materials; and general office administration.The Junior Assistant should develop familiarity with SARs work in order to support strategies for effectively servicing current members as well as identifying and recruiting universities and faculty. The position requires strong research and writing skills, timely and professional communication, including with members, partners, clients, SAR and NYU staff, and the public.The Junior Assistant will be encouraged to handle increasing responsibility for these and other activities as appropriate.The position reports primarily to SARs Director of Membership and University Relations and secondarily to SARs Membership Program Assistant.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:Research and support outreach efforts to grow the SAR network, including researching possibilities for new institutional members, national SAR sections and new partner networks with academic associations and societies in the US and abroad.Assist in crafting and formatting membership communications, including updates to the SAR website.Assist in scheduling and formatting informational webinars for current and prospective members.Maintain membership data and enhance information tracking systemsDevelop fluency, under the guidance of supervisors, in responding to queries from current and prospective members and partners; develop independent responsibility tracking outreach campaigns; maintain outreach records; andother administrative duties, as needed.Handle increasing responsibility for the above and other membership-related activities as appropriate.QUALIFICATIONS:Undergraduate or Masters degree in process or completed; students are encouraged to apply.Exceptional research, writing, and editorial skills.Strong attention todetail, and strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities.Demonstrated commitment to human rights and/or international education.Demonstrated interest in external relations and client engagement.Previous administrative experience desirable.Preferable: students with coursework and/or experience in journalism, marketing, human rights, education, international studies, data analysis
