Sr. Principal Systems Engineer Colorado Springs CO or Huntsville AL The Sr Principle Systems Engineer will have the ability to produce creative design solutions that can be implemented in accordance to both cost and schedule, and also meet all demands of a wide and diverse customer base. You will have responsibility across the enterprise of the C2BMC program with specific focus to the Regional Domain mission tied to the C2BMC program. Duties will vary, but may include any or all of the following: * Lead technical strategic regional domain planning of current and future enterprise domains including those which may introduce new service areas * Development and/or review Architectural design * development of technical assessments upon analysis and trade studies * Work with customers, vendors and suppliers in exploration of technologies, services, and products to identify candidates for further exploration and development * Lead architectural design and development, prototyping, COTS evaluation (products and services), trade study analysis, for new or changing services and capabilities * Proactive identification and resolution of obstacles/issues affecting architectures and deployments * Work with enterprise functions to understand future needs * Present architecture designs and solutions at customer reviews * Lead proposal and presentation of concepts for new or changing services to leadership as well as peers * Provide mentoring and/or guidance to less senior technical professionals Required Skills: * Understanding of and ability to architect complex systems to ensure separation of concerns * Ability to develop and refactor Java code for reusability, readability, and maintainability in an object-oriented codebase * Ability to understand and decompose requirements to support verification and validation testing of software components * Ability to generate detailed, repeatable, automated test procedures * Ability to extract data to support analysis requirements * Ability to generate procedures that test functionality * Ability to apply Agile and Lean Product Development principles as well as training others through a DevOps type environment * Background should include all aspects of the software development life cycle * Experience with Eclipse, Maven, Git, JIRA, Confluence and other open source development tools * Experience working in an integrated team environment with other systems, software, and specialty engineers to develop solutions * Understanding and knowledge of the Ballistic Missile Defense System(BMDS) * Understanding of system software design and development, Java development, Object-Oriented development patterns, principles and implementation, Service Oriented Architecture development principles and implementation, software architecture and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) * Active Secret Security Clearance Required Education: * Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or related field from an accredited college, with 10 years of professional experience.
