About the Office of Research and Financial Administration at Rensselaer Job Summary The Office of Research and Financial Administration at Rensselaer seeks applicants to fill its opening for Director, Research Administration. The Director of Research Administration provides vision, support, and leadership on all matters related to proposal preparation and award management activities for sponsored projects and will serve as a liaison between Principal Investigators, the Business Community, Office of Research Administration and Finance, and the funding agency. Under the guidance of the AVP for Research Administration and Finance, the Director of Research Administration, along with the Director of Research Finance, serves as an advisor to the Institute’s research enterprise on the most complex and high-profile sponsored projects. The Director also initiates strategies to improve service excellence, process and quality improvement, and cost effectiveness in research operations throughout the Institute. The Director serves as institutional signature authority and compliance officer for proposal and non-financial post award actions. Minimum Qualifications Candidates will have a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, and five (5) or more years of related and progressively responsible experience. Experience must include at least two (2) years of supervisory, project leadership, or other similar management experience. Candidates must have with automated financial systems Applicants must meet stated minimum education and experience requirements. Preferred Qualifications Candidates with a Master’s Degree in a related field are preferred Though not required, candidates with research administration experience in a scientific or academic setting are desired Experience that includes a working knowledge of Banner or similar ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system is helpful Experience with automated grants management systems is a plus Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Familiarity with research-administration oriented management Ability to successfully interact with all administrative/academic levels and external groups including governmental agencies and auditors Demonstrated oral and written communication skills Demonstrated planning, organizing and effective time management skills Demonstrated ability to create and lead a collaborative team environment Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret financial and other data Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure and meet established goals and objectives Demonstrated ability to anticipate and solve problems Shift Business Hours: Monday – Friday Travel Local travel between campus locations only Driving Incidental driving possible, but not required For more details, and to apply Follow the on-screen prompts to create an application.
