Regeneron’s Bioreactor Scale-Up and Development Group, located in Tarrytown NY is seeking a Process Development Engineer II for an exciting role within Preclinical Manufacturing and Process Development (PMPD). In this role, you will be mentoring a team Engineers in clinically-enabling bioreactor process development and production of preclinical material to support our growing clinical pipeline. Our role will also have significant multi-functional interaction with other R&D groups as well as Clinical Manufacturing at our Rensselaer facility. You will also be responsible for guiding experiments and new technology development by stay ahead of partners and vendors to ensure our processes are industry-leading.

A Typical Day In the Role Might Look Like:

  • Cultivation of mammalian cells using aseptic technique in bench and pilot scale bioreactors for the production of monoclonal antibodies.
  • Scale-up process evaluation and troubleshooting in support of clinical productions.
  • Conduct detailed data analysis of seed train, production, and quality data in support of process understanding and technology transfer followed by authoring of development reports and process transmittals.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of Process Development Engineers in cell culture processes, equipment operation and maintenance, and career development
  • Actively participate in Technology Transfer Start-Up Teams, which includes technology transfer via written process transmittals and on-site support to our manufacturing facility in Rensselaer, NY during clinical production campaigns.
  • Act as an established authority who demonstrates scientific acuity across the organization, proactively identifies improvement opportunities, and resolves strategies in how to enact them
  • Skillfully writes and reviews technical documents, including complex and external documents.
  • Take calculated risks to achieve goals. Independently and accurately determines strategies/approaches to address gaps and can implement successfully and effectively.
  • Make science-based recommendations by novel incorporation of learning from internal and external (literature) references.
  • Maintain and continuously improve lab operations

This position requires a Chemical/Biochemical Engineering Ph.D. 0-2+ years of industrial experience, Masters degree or equivalent with 4-8+ years of industrial experience, or a Chemical/Biochemical Engineering Bachelors degree with 8-12+ years of industrial experience.
