OGC serves as a resource for informed decision-making providing independent, timely and thoughtful advice on the broad range of legal issues that our programs, departments, boards, and legal entities face as they pursue their visions of change. It looks to prevent legal problems and solve those that occur, to facilitate transactions, and to build structures that consider the longer-term impacts of a transaction, litigation, governance issues, or other corporate matters. As an Assistant General Counsel at Open Society you will: Advise on a broad range of issues, which may include exempt organizations law, domestic and international grant making, basic corporate transactions and financial transactions, developing and implementing policies, and the creation, governance, and administration of legal entities in the US and abroad. For this role in particular, advise on all aspects of labor and employment law, including employment-related policies, employee complaints and claims, internal investigations, labor relations, immigration, compensation and benefits matters, disciplinary matters, recruitment, global office set up and compliance, and other areas. Participate in the development of OGC’s learning program, including building and providing training on legal issues. Execute work both independently and under the supervision of another attorney; work is carried out both independently and in teams; a range of duties as assigned.
