FUNCTIONAL JOB TITLE: ASSISTANT ATTORNEY GENERALJOB TITLE: COUNSEL IINAGE UNIT 6, JOB GRADE 17FAIR LABOR DIVISION/PUBLIC PROTECTION & ADVOCACY BUREAU(Boston Office)Attorney General Maura Healey is looking for a highly motivated person to join her team as an Assistant Attorney General in the Attorney General’s Fair Labor Division.The Fair Labor Division (FLD) investigates and enforces the Massachusetts wage and hour and other laws governing fair labor standards and public construction bidding laws under Chapters 149 and 151 of the Massachusetts General Laws and related regulations.Primary Duties:Assistant Attorneys General are responsible for the enforcement of Massachusetts labor standards, including statutes that address non-payment of wages, overtime, minimum wage, child labor, public construction, prevailing wages, labor trafficking, and diverse related statutes. Assistant Attorneys General prosecute violations in criminal, civil, and administrative proceedings, as well as make public presentations to employers and employees concerning the wage and hour laws.Position Requirements:Applicants must have a Juris Doctor (JD) degree, admission to the Massachusetts Bar, and at least three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience in the practice of law.Preferred Qualifications:Legal experience and/or interest in protecting the rights of vulnerable populations; civil enforcement of labor standards or other rights; or criminal litigation experience in the district and superior courts, including grand jury; strong research, writing, and analytical skills. Applicants should possess an ability to work successfully independently, as well as part of a team, and to perform the required work under deadlines. We seek an individual who possesses strong organizational skills, strong computer skills, a proficiency in Microsoft Office, and who demonstrates an attention to detail.
