Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Navigation Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in San Diego, CA. The FCA program seeks a candidate to support the Vehicle Management System (VMS) Avionics team as a member of the Navigation team. General duties for the candidate will include: trade studies for navigation subsystem design, navigation subsystem lab testing, flight test support, navigation subsystem performance analysis, anomaly resolution, and supplier management, among other duties.
Members of the VMS team perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk analysis, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Members of the VMS team ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Members of the VMS team also perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and at least 14 years of related experience with a BS, or 12 years with Master’s, or 9 years with a PhD
Experience with SW Tools: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, Visio), MATLAB
Experience with GPS systems, the GPS Signal in Space characteristics, inertial sensors, GPS/INS tightly coupled Kalman filters, and GPS receiver design
Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance or higher within a reasonable amount of time to meet the needs of the business
