Northrop Grumman is seeking a Senior Principal Accountant to report to the Manager of Accounting. The selected individual will play a key role in supporting the Manager with billing activities and will work with their team to ensure strong processes and controls are in place and will provide value added services to our partner sectors. This position will be located at in El Segundo, California. Roles and responsibilities of the Associate Accountant will include (but not be limited to) the following:
Applying principles of accounting to compile and analyze financial information to prepare Government and Commercial billings (Cost Type, Time and Material, Firm Fixed Price Progress Payments, Milestones, and Performance Based Payments).
Performing detailed analysis of billings and collections in support of Northrop Grumman Space Sector contracts.
Preparation, review and submission of highly complex customer billings.
Reviewing customer billings prepared by staff for compliance of contract terms and conditions and established department policies and procedures.
Maintaining and overseeing collection of aged billed receivables.
Preparing other accounting schedules and reports, reviewing and verifying accuracy.
Designing, modifying, installing, and/or maintaining accounting systems to ensure adequate recognition of financial transactions.
Supporting monthly cash collection and forecasting goals.
Interfacing with internal and external customers.
Adhering to accounting and auditing policies and procedures.
Supporting DCAA incurred costs and billing audits.
Special projects as needed.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. SpaceBusMgt

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or Economics from an accredited institution with 10+ years of relevant experience – OR – a Master’s degree as stated above with 8+ years of relevant experience.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite – specifically high level Excel skills (including: the ability to insert pivot tables, Vlookup, and conditional formatting, etc.).
Demonstrated leadership, critical thinking, and innovative behaviors in past projects, roles, or experiences.
Understanding of SAP and navigation.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Must have an agile perspective or compliance protocol mandated by regulated industry.
Ability to obtain a security clearance. US citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications:
SAP One Source and Business Warehouse (BW) expertise.
Familiarity with GAAP, FAR, CAS, IFRSr.
Professional experience in a regulated industry: to include Aerospace & Defense, Insurance, Financial Services, and Telecommunications.
