Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems division is seeking an experienced Senior Director of Business Management to provide financial leadership to our Propulsion Systems (PS) business unit (BU). This position will be located in Bacchus, UT, and will report directly to the Vice President of Business Management for the Launch and Missile Defenses Systems division. This position will also have a very strong reporting relationship to the Vice President and General Manager of the Propulsion Systems business unit, and will be a key member of the business unit leadership team. The successful candidate will have experience in large organizations specifically in bid/cost strategy, project planning and control, financial planning and analysis, variance analysis, and staff management experience. General Job Description: The PS BU CFO will be responsible for all of the business management functions and deliverables for the business unit. Position responsibilities will include working directly with the BU VP/GM, as well as a geographically dispersed staff, on strategy such as investments, bid/cost indirect budgets, etc. as well as proposal development responsibilities. The Senior Director is responsible for ensuring compliance with all NG policies, internal controls, and disclosed practices.
Specific Job Duties:
Oversee and manage all aspects of the business unit’s accounting, financial reporting and compliance activity in accordance with GAAP, FAR and CAS.
Hands-on leadership in developing and maintaining accurate financial forecasts.
Lead monthly, quarterly and annual operating financial planning and reporting activity for the business unit.
Lead forward-looking G&A, budget and overhead base and rate management process with a keen focus on affordability/competitiveness.
Lead program cost control and analysis activities for existing contracts.
Manage balance sheet in coordination with the sector and corporate shared services and general accounting function(s).
Ensure complete adherence to internal control processes and certifications to ensure on-going compliance and financial statement integrity as required by Sarbanes Oxley Act and related external reporting standards.
Ensure compliance with all statutory and contractual commitments with special focus on business systems rules to ensure adequacy in passing all DCAA/DCMA audits.
Support internal/external audit activities (business systems, program EACs, EVMS certification/system description).
Support the generation of competitive proposals, with high returns, that support the significant growth projections of the business unit.
Support investment proposals with an evaluation of investment alternatives/returns.
Provide the strategic business partnering and leadership for the business unit, as well to/with both government and commercial customers.
Develop and lead operational action plans to reduce working capital balances consistent with commitments in the annual operating financial plan.
Oversee staffing, performance management and coaching/development of the Business Management & Accounting professional staff of approximately 100 team members.
Oversee preparation of internal/external financial reports (LRSP, Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cashflow, EACs), indirect rate management, project control, process improvement, and charging practice.
BS/BA in Business Management, Finance or Accounting.
Finance / DoD industry work experience of at least 12 years, with demonstration of increasing leadership and responsibility, and proven managerial skills.
Extensive direct experience at a U.S. Government contractor with significant experience in program finance and accounting, overhead/forward pricing rate development, EAC management and a strong understanding long-term contract revenue recognition.
Well-developed people leadership skills and at least 10 years of supervisory responsibility.
Ability to effectively lead large diverse teams, across multiple locations.
Strong financial leadership and analytical skills with extensive experience presenting financial information to executive leadership.
Demonstrated ability to achieve operational efficiency improvements through implementation of continuous improvement, agility and digital transformation processes and tools.
Experience and success advising and interacting with the highest levels of management.
Experience with internal and external audit agencies.
Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance. US Citizenship is a prerequisite.
Advanced degree or certification in related discipline highly desired.
Current, active Secret Clearance.
