Neufeld Scheck & Brustin, LLP (NSB), a national civil rights law firm focused on police and government misconduct, is looking to hire an attorney to serve as the firms Litigation Manager.About NSB:At NSB, we represent individual plaintiffs in high-stake civil rights cases against police and other officials. Many of NSBs cases are 1983 suits on behalf of exonerees seeking redress for their wrongful convictions. NSB is lead counsel in cases throughout the country. Our mission is to win justice for our clients and hold officials accountable for misconduct through excellent legal work at every stage of every case. Our constitutional civil rights cases address timely criminal justice issues like false confessions, junk forensic science, and prosecutorial misconduct. In our civil wrongful conviction practice, we prove that police fabricated or hid evidence to convict innocent men and women and lied about it. Similar themes appear in our other practice areasfor example, in jail death cases, we prove that corrections officials lied about what they did to cause our clients deaths. The common theme in all our work is holding corrupt officials accountable and getting justice for individual clients. The Litigation Manager Role at NSB:Since NSBs founding over 20 years ago by nationally recognized trial attorneys Peter Neufeld, Barry Scheck, and the late Johnnie L. Cochran, Jr., the firm continues to be dedicated to ensuring NSB attorneys gain first-hand experience with federal and state civil rights litigation.The Litigation Manager will be responsible for: Advising all case teams on filing and service of process requirements;Overseeing all document productions, including addressing privilege questions and technical questions related to the production software; Working with case teams to draft Rule 26 disclosures, subpoenas, interrogatories, and RFPs;Problem-solving complex records requests and ensuring records requests are timely obtained by case teams;Developing internal case management timeline for each case and overseeing timely completion of tasks;Creating internal protocols to streamline case management, document productions, and the filing process; Mentoring Civil Rights Fellows and Paralegals on day-to-day litigation case management questions; andProviding internal trainings on different aspects of litigation. Who Should Apply: NSB is looking for candidates with:4 or more years of legal experience working on complex civil litigation matterspreferably federalwhich includes filings in federal and state court to drafting case documents to document productions; Demonstrated experience with document production software like Relativity or Nextpoint, including document uploading, coding/tagging, and Bates-stamping materials; Experience training/onboarding and/or serving as a resource to junior attorneys, paralegals, or other litigation support professionals. Excellent project management skills; A demonstrated commitment to social justice reform (pro bono representation, volunteer work, clinical experience in law school, etc.); andNew York bar admission is required (admission to a U.S. District Court is preferred).
