Nesco Resource is seeking a Laboratory Assistant for a well-regarded biotechnology company in the Albany area. This is a one year contract position with the potential for longer-term or permanent hire.

The Laboratory Assistant supports the Manufacturing and Process Sciences Departments through the laboratory optimization, troubleshooting and validation of manufacturing bioprocesses.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Conducts scaled-down production procedures to improve the efficiency and yield of candidate or existing bioprocesses
Carries out small-scale cell culture process studies
Assists in the analysis of samples generated from lab scale studies
Develops and writes protocols for small-scale cell culture process studies
Tabulates results and writes summary reports of cell culture process evaluation studies
Using JMP/MVA to analyze process performance and product quality
Presents findings at group and possibly at interdepartmental meetings
Maintains lab supplies and equipment
Produces and maintains accurate records

Education and Experience:
Requires BS/MS in chemical/biochemical engineering or related field
0-2 year industrial experience with bioreactor and mammalian cell culture experience
May consider another degree discipline with relevant experience; cGMP experience is desirable

Knowledge, skills and abilities:
Small scale Bioreactor (2L)
Cell culture (CHO)
Understand cellular metabolisms
Interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
Understand cGMP and regulatory guidance such as ICH
Knowledge of process development and characterization will benefit
