We have an immediate opening for a Benefits and Payroll Manager who will manage Human Resources benefit and payroll operations for the National Indemnity Company and Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Company operations and affiliated companies in multiple states. Responsible for ensuring efficient, accurate and timely processing of biweekly payrolls. Responsible for the day-to-day benefit and payroll operations, making decisions, initiating ideas and troubleshooting issues related to the benefit and payroll services and systems. Supervises the activities of the benefit and payroll staff by ensuring the adequate documentation of work procedures and schedules, issuing written and oral instructions, training personnel, analyzing and resolving work problems, and assisting staff in solving work problems. Prepares reports and analysis for senior management. Supervises appropriate applications and ensures compliance with Federal and State payroll and benefit laws and Company policies. Implements process improvements as needed and maintains strict confidentiality.

Job Qualifications:

* Bachelor degree in business, HR management, accounting, or related field or equivalent

* Math through algebra Personal computer and related software such as payroll, Windows, Excel and database applications

* 5-7 years related supervisory, payroll and benefit administration work experience

* Handle multiple high priorities and meet deadlines

* Work accurately with detail

* Strong organization and priority setting skills

* Analyze, compile, compute, reconcile and verify data

* Excellent customer service skills

* Excellent written and oral communication

* Work well with people at all levels of organization

* Follow complex instructions

* Coaching, negotiating, administration, and decision making

* Identify and analyze problems, generate solutions, and implement recommendations

* Work additional time as needed

Preferred Knowledge:

* Workday Payroll and Benefits

* Professional Human Resources Accreditation

* Certified Employee Benefit Specialist

* Certified Payroll Professional

* ADP payroll Federal and state tax laws, forms, and report filings as applicable to payroll

* General accounting principles
