National Geographic is looking for a Manager of Public Affairs to support National Geographics Pristine Seas project to provide project management, relationship management and research.Pristine Seas is National Geographics flagship ocean conservation program. Over the last ten years, the Pristine Seas team has helped to inspire the protection of 22 of the last wild places in the ocean, encompassing more than 5 million square kilometers of ocean. Pristine Seas seeks to scale its approach over the next decade to inspire the protection of up to 40 new places. Additionally, we aim to cultivate a network of best-in-class new and existing partners to build a community of support for protected areas.Your Impact Responsibilities IncludeProject Management (40%): Working in collaboration with the Director of Public Affairs and Regional Directors, design and implement a project management system to track progress on key initiatives & partnerships, including program plans, timelines, and creation of partner proposals/MOUs/agreements.Relationship Management (30%): This role will serve as the day-to-day manager for internal and external partner relationships. This role will design and execute a relationship management system that incorporates consistent communication, implementing and maintaining program plans, timelines and agreements.Research & Analysis (30%): Work with Regional Directors and the Director of Public Affairs to identify research needs and collaborate with other Public Affairs team members to conduct research for upcoming expeditions and special projects, as needed.What Youll Bring Educational BackgroundUndergraduate degreeMinimum Years and Type of Experience Candidates must possess at least 7 years of experience in a similar role.Necessary Knowledge and SkillsExcellent project management and organizational skills with high attention to detail.Highly developed oral and written communication skills and ability to work with individuals and groups at all levels.Ability to work on multiple projects, under deadlines, with changing priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced, multi-cultural environment.Desired QualificationsOutstanding interpersonal and social skills.Spoken and/or written fluency in a second language (French, Spanish or Portuguese preferred).a demonstrated interest in environmental sciences and international affairs.Experience in the non-profit and/or environmental sector.SupervisionNo direct reportWe encourage you to apply even if your experience is not a 100% match with the position.
