The National Employment Law Project (NELP) seeks a law student for a 2021 Spring Legal Externship inWashington, D.C. All of NELPs work is built upon a strong commitment to eliminating structural racism.With a staff of lawyers, researchers, communications, and policy experts, NELP works in close partnership with lawyers, grassroots organizing groups, and reformers to test new policy models in the states and cities and translate them to the federal level, and to enforce long-fought legal rights and protections, in order to respond to the key problems of the U.S. labor market in the twentyfirst century.To learn more about us, please visit our website at Externship:The 2021 spring legal extern will work with NELPs Worker Center Support Program on a project aimed at developing innovative organizational forms for worker centers supporting direct worksite organizing, including issues at the intersection of labor and nonprofit tax law, as well as corporate law and governance issues.The spring legal extern will assist NELP attorneys in all aspects of this work, including providing legal, policy, and strategic assistance for campaigns, including legal research and analyses, drafting legal memoranda and policy briefs.To Apply:Interested students should Submit cover letter, resume, and writing sample (if possible, in one PDF document) via, choosing Spring 2021 WCS Legal Externship from the Position drop-down menu under Application Information. Students are encouraged to apply as early as possible and no later than January 31, 2021.To be eligible, the extern should be available to work at least 10 hours a week. As NELP does not permit unpaid externship, the extern must either be receiving academic credit, as part of an approved law school for-credit course or program during the spring 2021 semester, paid $20 per hour.
