THE OPPORTUNITY

Our client, Meridian Adhesives Group, a Private-Equity backed leading specialty chemicals and materials manufacturer seeks a strong Operations Manager to lead the manufacturing operation for its Epoxy Technologies (“Epoxy Tech”) business line. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who can lead the day-to-day operations of the plant while driving a culture of performance, accountability, and safety amongst a backdrop of significant growth. The position reports directly to President of the Electronics Division, with indirect (dotted line) reporting to VP Operations, Meridian. This role is based in Billerica, MA.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage all site Manufacturing, Maintenance, Shipping & Receiving, Engineering, and Production Planning functions
  • (4-6) direct reports, with overall responsibility of ~ 35 person department
  • Ensure safe and effective operations in full compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements
  • Develop and execute department operating budget
  • Develop and execute site Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) plan while driving project execution excellence.
  • Develop, maintain, and utilize Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to drive operational improvements in order to realize operational and commercial objectives.
  • Overall accountability for recruiting, hiring, training, and ensuring Operations personnel are adhering to company standards
  • Assist Purchasing personnel to research raw material and safety stock
  • Assist R&D in new product introductions
  • Supporting the Quality System and Quality Assurance department
  • Coordinating best practices with sister companies and divisions
  • Experience in adhesive manufacturing and markets a plus
  • BS Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering is preferred
  • An MBA is a plus

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 10 years of experience in manufacturing
  • At least 5 years of experience involving managerial or supervisory duties.
  • Proven experience driving operational improvements utilizing Lean and Continuous Improvement methods
  • Experience driving safety the implentation of safety processes and policies
  • Strong project management and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with batch chemical manufacturing
  • Experience with packaging operations a plus

EDUCATION CREDENTIALS

  • BS Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering is preferred
  • An MBA is a plus
