Lowe’s Summer Internship Program Overview

Lowe’s 2021 Summer Internship Program for Retail Technology offers challenging project-based work to undergraduate and graduate students, enhancing their understanding of the retail business world through valuable, hands-on experience with a FORTUNE 50 company. The summer internship program begins with orientation in early June and concludes in early-August. All internships are paid opportunities. This role has potential for conversion into a full-time position for those that successfully complete the internship and upon candidate’s graduation.

User Experience and Interaction Design
The Associate Product Designer / Researcher provides input into the overall methodology and completes usability testing and research for assigned projects. This includes partnering closely with Architects, Designers, Prototypes, and Content Developers to deliver quality and timely research results and information to project teams in support of the design process. Some of the key responsibilities include: Conducts various research, testing and feedback functions for Lowe’s customers and associates, with input and support from more senior level product researchers. Completes competitive analysis, service flow diagrams, interviews, usability testing and benchmarking to improve products. Designs, facilitates and executes basic testing and research methods across various platforms, including B2B/B2C web and native application experiences. General knowledge or proficiency with UserTesting.com, UserZoom, or other online research tools.

Education and/or Experience

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology, Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Marketing or related field with an expected graduation date of December 2021 or May 2022
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA is required
  • Proficient in MSOffice Programs (specifically Word, Excel, and Access)
  • Basic understanding of research and consumer behavior
  • Strong collaborative, innovative, problem solving, organizational, and communication skills are required
  • Relevant internship and experience with running small usability and research studies is a plus, as is experience in a leadership position at work or within a campus organization
