**Histology Technician**King of Prussia PAContract-to-hireSchedule: M-F 7am-3pm**Summary:** We seek an experienced Histology Technician to join the laboratory team. A successful candidate must be able to perform grossing of urinary tract specimens and prepares microscopic slides from tissue sections, immunohistochemical and special stains for microscopic examination. The ability to perform high complexity testing when required is also essential.**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**+ Preparation and processing of histology specimens in a clinical laboratory environment.+ Receiving, unpacking and labeling, accessioning and grossing of histology specimens.+ Assign accession numbers and prepares the cassettes for grossing. Get specimens ready and in solutions as needed. Place on any machines as needed.+ Responsible for preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.+ Equipment maintenance including changing of chemicals and cleaning.+ Inventory, unloading and labeling of all supplies.+ Data entry. Files, slides, blocks, and paperwork.+ Understands and follows all laboratory accreditation standards, OSHA, EPA, and CLIA.+ Keep accurate records including but not limited to: equipment preventive maintenance and repair, QA and QC records, temperature and equipment charts, safety procedures, exposure and waste management.**Qualifications:****Education/Experience:**1. An earned Bachelor’s degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology obtained from an accredited institution with a minimum of 2-3 years experience in histotechnology. Sufficient additional experience in place of a Bachelor’s degree will also be considered.2. Must have experience with embedding, cutting and grossing cases (6 sections per slide)3.
