Mechanical Engineer (Brecksville OH)

Client in the LED Illumination industry is currently hiring a Mechanical Engineer- Direct Hire; focus in on R&D / Product Development This is a Permanent / Full Time Salaried position for an innovative and experienced R&D Engineer, seeking to leverage background designing products, at the leading edge of backlighting technology.

Engineers are responsible for providing mechanical designs and technical expertise to product development teams. Engineers are expected to provide innovative solutions in the development of products to meet aggressive reliability, performance, cost, serviceability, and program delivery targets. They will manage multiple projects through the product development process. This person will design, plan, and develop products and processes by managing project actions between all facilities.

Overview of the role:
Responsibilities include all phases of new product and installed base programs, manufacturing introduction, supplier interfaces, and serviceability (including all documentation). In addition, the engineer may provide direction to designers and technicians assigned to the project.

Additional duties will include:
Completing risk assessments on products in production.
Troubleshooting and finding root cause for any failures or manufacturing issues.
Develop best practice standards and define departmental direction.
Execute design, test, integration, and installation tasks in accordance with project team objectives and requirements.
Ensure technical specifications meet product requirements.
Ensure project development plans realistically address risks.
Implement and document designs.
Design and release of a completed product capable of being manufactured.
Follow good documentation practices.
Complete responsibility starting from planning to execution.
Ensure proper completion of the project on time.
Responsibility to keep updated on the latest technology happening around the world in the field of LED Illumination.
Develop strategies and plans for business development in the long run.

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related.
Minimum of 2-5 years of relevant experience in product development, LED Illumination background preferred but not required. Suitable experience in other fields acceptable.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; strong presentation skills.
Self-starting and approachable, enthusiastic but practical in developing new technologies.
Proficient in the development of Quality Assurance systems for manufacturing processes of final product.
Software- Solidworks a plus, but any Cad skills will be transferrable.

Strongly-desired would be:
Experience with design for manufacturability and reliability.
Experience as a mechanical engineer on at least one new product design cycle or strong project/project experience.
