Inner City Law Center (ICLC) is a nonprofit law firm on Skid Row in Downtown Los Angeles. We are looking for extraordinary people to help us end homelessness in Los Angeles. Founded on the fundamental principle that every person should always be treated with dignity and respect, ICLC fights for justice for low-income tenants, working-poor families, people experiencing homelessness, people living with HIV/AIDS, people who are disabled, and homeless veterans. Position Description: ICLC seeks a talented full-time Outreach Specialist to serve our clients who are experiencing homelessness. Working in partnership with homeless service providers, the Outreach Specialist will assist ICLCs legal team in providing holistic legal services to our unhoused clients by facilitating ongoing outreach efforts with individuals at encampments and temporary shelters throughout Los Angeles County. In addition to participating in community outreach events and developing relationships with homeless service providers, the Outreach Specialist will:Screen and interview clients; Prepare and complete intake documentation with clients; Open, file and copy digital case files; Maintain a calendar; Assist legal staff with requests to obtain out of state vital documentation;Assist legal staff with appropriate referrals for outstanding parking tickets;Develop relationships with other stakeholders responsible for providing intervention and emergency services to unhoused individuals.Hiring Criteria: Commitment to ICLCs mission and values, and a willingness to provide holistic client-centered services with kindness and a trauma-informed approach in order to communicate and connect effectively with our clients. Applicants should possess a whatever-it-takes attitude, an ability to comfortably interact with diverse populations, be energetic and independent, and have a strong desire to learn. Must be an organized self-starter capable of multi-tasking. Good communication, typing skills and computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite. Ability and willingness to travel (fully reimbursed) and interact with clients in public where they are at (e.g. encampments and shelters) at least 2-3x/week. Compensation: Salary at $24.04 – $26.09 hourly, depending on experience. Excellent benefits.
