With a primary focus on strengthening and preserving affordable housing, we seek to promote a vibrant and diverse community with the power to shape its own future.Each year HCC assists more than 4,000 residents resolve housing-related problems through our core programs: legal services, tenant & community organizing, weatherization assistance.Please see our website for more information, including our current organizing campaigns– Conservation Coordinators (HCC) seeks a Supervising Attorney to join a dedicated team of staff attorneys and tenant organizers working to preserve affordable housing on Manhattans West side. The attorneys at HCC represent tenants and tenant associations in Manhattan Housing Court, New York State Supreme Court, the Southern District of New York, and at administrative agencies such as NYHCA, HPD, and DHCR. The Supervising Attorney will supervise 3 – 4 full-time staff attorneys and 1 2 legal support and/or organizing staff and will report to the Senior Supervising Attorney. They will be responsible for ensuring a high standard of client service and representation, training and supervising new and experienced staff, ensuring that client data entry is up to date and accurate, and maintaining a modified personal caseload. They will also be responsible for training and supervising law and undergraduate student interns, maintaining relationships with community groups, and preparing and facilitating community know your rights workshops.
