Clinical Authorization Specialist – Remote!

This is a full-time, 13-week contract position in a prestigious hospital in seaside San Diego, CA. The pay rate is up to $24/hr. Start ASAP! Medical, RX, Dental, Vision, Life and Disability benefits available!

SHIFT: 5x8H Shifts, May Be Scheduled on weekends. Manager is open to flexible working hours between 6am – 8pm!

Position Summary:

The Authorization Specialist is an experienced revenue cycle professional responsible for financially securing scheduled and unscheduled hospital and professional services by verifying insurance eligibility and benefits coverage and by securing insurance pre-certification and/or authorization for inpatient and/or outpatient services. The Specialist communicates the status of coverage/benefits verification and authorization directly with patient and providers and facilitates rescheduling of services as appropriate. The Specialist provides and collects estimated patient liability amounts.

Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent
Authorized to work in the U.S.
6 months Authorization experience (OR 6 months Front Office Medical Assistant Experience acceptable)
Experience must include insurance eligibility and benefits coverage verification, obtaining pre-certification and/or authorization for medical services, and providing explanations and/or estimates of patient financial responsibility
Epic Experience
Remote workers will need to provide their own computer or laptop.

Preferred Qualifications:

3-4 years of hospital and/or professional services pre-access in an academic or other complex multi-specialty setting.
Thorough knowledge of third-party payors
Bilingual English/Spanish
