Green Dot Public Schools Southeast Texas is seeking a mission-driven Director of Finance and Operations (DFO) with a strong background in budget management, operational systems, continuous improvement and team management. The DFO will serve as the non-Academic lead for the Green Dot Public Schools Southeast Texas regional office and be a member of the regional leadership team. This position will partner with Green Dot Public Schools National’s back office support departments, and Green Dot Public Schools Southeast Texas colleagues to set up processes and systems to support the finances and operations of Green Dot Public Schools Southeast Texas schools.
The ideal candidate has proven leadership experience in a fast-paced environment and is a self-starter with strong attention to detail. In addition, the DFO must be a self-directed problem solver, enjoy being part of a collaborative team and thrive in finding solutions to complex financial and operational issues. The DFO reports to the Green Dot Public Schools Southeast Texas Executive Director and is responsible for implementing Green Dot wide financial and operational policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Support Green Dot Southeast Texas’ Executive Director in running day-to-day non-academic operations (e.g. finance, IT, facilities, security, transportation, etc.)
Act as the primary liaison with Green Dot Public Schools National departments
Support Green Dot Public Schools Southeast Texas campuses in all aspects of finance and operations, working closely with each Director of School Operations to ensure efficient and effective processes and compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
Responsible for managing the Green Dot Public Schools Southeast Texas budget development, budget to actuals, and forecasts. Present to the Green Dot Public Schools Southeast Texas Board of Directors regularly.
Manage procurement and vendor relationships for Green Dot Public Schools Southeast Texas
Drive improvement and innovation in critical areas of school operations by increasing efficiency and effectiveness
Develop and implement trainings for school site staff to maximize efficiency within school offices
Support schools in recruiting and enrolling students and families
Perform special projects (e.g., improving attendance across schools; renovations of school facilities; modernization of technical infrastructure)
Problem solve around local and school-level financial and operational issues (e.g., facilities, compliance, governance, vendors)
Help develop and set the strategy for regional growth and expansion
Ensure processes are in place to monitor compliance to federal, state and local regulations/requirements for financial and school operations (e.g., Free and Reduced Lunch, Special Education, ESSA, student immunization compliance)
Ensure processes are in place to ensure accurate and compliant data collection/reporting (e.g., student information systems, attendance tracking, asset management, special programs tracking, payroll, HRIS, contacts database) and accounting systems to ensure they conform to the local charts of accounts
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required; Graduate degree (MBA, MPP, etc.) preferred
4+ years of work experience in a fast-paced, highly analytical professional environment. Ideal candidate will have worked in: management consulting, financial services, corporate strategy, operations or a successful start-up company
2+ years of experience managing others in a professional environment
You have knowledge of and comfort with complex financial data and building financial models
You are detail-oriented, efficient and accurate
You have strong project management and facilitation skills
You have excellent interpersonal, relationship-building and communication skills (written and oral). You are a very good listener.
You have a natural and effective teamwork orientation with the ability to work with and gain the trust of personnel at all levels within an organization
You have the ability to develop and implement internal systems and processes to increase effectiveness and efficiency across multiple functions
You have the ability to juggle multiple work streams simultaneously and handle high-pressure environments
You are willing to continually learn and collaborate with all stakeholders
You have a high level of personal responsibility and drive towards ambitious goals
You have experience with change management and talent management, with emphasis on training and coaching others
You are comfortable with ambiguity and have the ability to adapt to a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
You have a demonstrated passion for improving K-12 public education; experience in public education preferred
You are dependable, have a sense of humor and a rock-solid commitment to Green Dot’s mission and the communities we serve
The starting salary range for this position is $85,000 – $95,000, based on experience.
