OPPORTUNITY:
The Reading Curriculum Specialist will support teachers in the implementation of the Green Dot reading and ELA programs.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide teachers assistance with strategies that support the delivery of quality instruction to all students; this includes leading weekly lesson internalization meetings with teachers and unit plan internalization meetings before each unit
Promote standards-based and text-based instruction by providing focused observations, co-planning, and professional development on research-based instructional strategies and classroom practices
Utilize the coaching model to provide opportunities for teacher reflection on classroom observations
Lead weekly data meetings with reading teachers where student work is reviewed and reteach plans are developed to reassess mastery
Train teachers to manage, interpret and use assessment data and facilitate the analysis of data and student work to guide instructional decisions
Model and co-teach lessons for teachers
Work collaboratively with the regional education team and school leaders to facilitate professional development
Assist with curriculum planning to ensure mastery of the standards and appropriate use of resources
Create rigorous interim assessments and supplement curriculum that reflect Green Dot’s core instructional beliefs and are aligned to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills
Participate in curricular training and development opportunities
Support the school administrative team with duties and responsibilities as necessary
QUALIFICATIONS:
At least 4 years teaching experience in English Language Arts and Reading at the middle or high school level, with valid credential
Master in Education (preferred)
Experience teaching or planning with rigorous reading curricula, e.g. Wit and Wisdom (preferred)
Solid knowledge of adult learning theory and teacher developmental needs
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential
Experience developing and facilitating professional development
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience in collaborative planning and delivery of differentiated staff development to classroom teachers
COMPENSATION:
Starting salary for this position is $60,000 – $75,000, depending on experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits plan as well as the opportunity to impact a growing, mission-driven organization that is committed to the success of Beaumont students.
