Under the supervision of the school counselor(s) this position maintains student records for the counseling office and assists the counselors in the performance of their duties. This position must be able to work with students, parents, faculty, staff, and college admissions representatives, have good communication skills, maintain high standards of confidentiality, exercise appropriate professional judgment, have computer skills and meet deadlines. Duties will also include general clerical tasks. The Counselor Intern will have direct contact with students therefore Interns will have to submit verification of approved TB test and fingerprinting. These positions are part-time (based on intern hours needed) and unpaid.
Support counselor with the college application process
Recruit students for scholarships and summer internship programs and help guide them with application process
Work one-on-one with student to review academic progress
Assist counselor with mock interviews with students
General data entry (ie. senior graduation/college tracking information, Student Community Service hours, Cal Grant GPA info)
Schedule parent meetings with counselor
Support Testing Coordinator/Counselor with preparing PSAT/AP Exam materials
Support with contacting and scheduling College/Career Fair participants
Schedule campus tour visits and support with planning logistics
Support with SAT registration
Tally Exit Slips and questionnaires
Support with Graduation Progress Packets for all Advisories
Make general copies of counseling center documents (e.g., adult school applications, community service logs, flyers, etc.)
Must be enrolled in a graduate school program for a PPS Credential in School Counseling
