Summary of Position:

This position will enable the smooth transition of products from the design and concept phase to prototyping and then to volume production. This position will interface between development engineering and manufacturing to ensure projects/orders timelines are met. This hands-on position requires creative, analytical and developmental thinking. Designing, planning, documenting, implementing, optimizing, testing and supervising the manufacturing processes are all key requirements of this job. The manufacturing engineer will be involved all stages of the product release, assembly, and test. Communication with workers involved in all stages of manufacture is essential, both verbally and written. Enthusiasm, cooperation, and a positive outlook as well as a thorough understanding of the technology and manufacturing concepts involved is important, as is the ability to prioritize.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Tracks multiple project scheduled to ensure on time delivery
  • Evaluates and develops heat exchanger technologies by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
  • Improves heat exchanger manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Provides or assists in manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
  • Performs time studies of manufacturing operations and calculates Takt times to optimize efficiency.
  • Designs special tools to reduce assembly time
  • Documents assembly procedures and processes
  • Works with Quality Team to resolve manufacturing issues
  • Works with Engineering Design Teams to improved manufacturability of product
  • Works with planners and buyers to ensure correct flow of material


Formal Education Requirement:

  • Four year technical degree or higher

Minimum Years of Experience Necessary:

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering and 5+ years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • More than five years progressive experience as an engineer or production leader
  • Must have experience working with technician level assemblers


Demonstrated mastery skills proficiency in the following specialty areas:

  • Management of multiple projects at one time
  • Documentation of processes and equipment configurations
  • Experience is complex mechanical assembly processes
  • Experience with lifting and rigging large objects
  • Knowledge of mechanical electronic control systems
  • Knowledge of assembly processes and quality systems
  • Works efficienctly across the organization to achieve results


  • Position may require travel
  • Position may require overtime to fulfill customer obligations
  • The incumbent must be a team player
  • Successful candidate must be self-motivated, work with minimal supervision, will ideally have operations experience or experience working in a product assembly/manufacturing environment, good troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Experience in quality assurance or ISO9000 is a plus
  • Experience with brazing operations is a plus
  • Experience with complex assembly operations is a plus
  • Experience with heat exchanger manufacturing is desired
  • Prior experience moving complex equipment is highly desired
