Position Summary
The Executive Athletic Director (EAD) is responsible for the overall administration of a Dallas College’s nationally distinctive athletic program. Overall administration includes staff, student-athlete welfare and the student-athlete experience, stewardship of program resources, student-athlete recruiting, and marketing and communication functions of the department. More importantly, the EAD will not only be responsible for recruitment but retention, completion, transfer and employment. Reporting directly to the Dean of Students and Student Engagement, the Executive Athletic Director is a visionary who will reimagine Dallas College athletics. The EAD will manage an operating budget and related facility accounts. The EAD is knowledgeable about current local, national and industry trends, NJCAA transfer and compliance issues, and other related topics and best practices that will impact the future of Dallas College athletics. The EAD will be expected to create a clear and compelling department-wide strategic plan and vision, while ensuring its goals and objectives are aligned with the College’s goals and objectives. More importantly, the EAD will lead, manage and develop action-oriented initiatives, strategies and tactics that support and inspire diversity, equity and inclusion. This interconnected position collaborates with the Student Success leadership and all of Dallas College.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Knowledge of the purpose of community colleges and the vision of Dallas College
• Skills in technological support and delivery of student programs and services; knowledge and skill in the use of integrated software systems; and proficiency in the use of Microsoft application software
• Experience leading or managing major change initiatives
• Employ and deploy data-informed and results oriented initiatives
• Ability to identify and address opportunities and challenges that arise as a result of Dallas College’s current transition
• An understanding of contemporary issues in higher education is required through professional development activities
• Experience working with student support programs (counseling, threat assessment, health & wellness programs, etc.) as a CARE Team member
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of information exposed to in the course of business regarding students, supervisors or other employees
• Experience working with special populations with differing needs such as DACA, International, foster care, homeless, first generation students, and veterans, etc.
• Highly collaborative leader with experience in a comparably diverse and complex college/university with a proven track record of enhancing quality, excellence, institutional diversity, equity and inclusion, and student success
• Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations regarding student discipline
• An appreciation of shared governance and evidence of strong ability to work effectively and collaboratively with administration, faculty, students, staff, and other constituent groups and partners, both within and outside a college or university with diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds
• Experience in strategic planning, assessment of program(s) effectiveness, and development of guidelines to enhance student success units within the institution and with accrediting bodies
• Excellent time management, and organizational and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work effectively with ethnic, cultural, and socially and economically diverse student populations
• Experience with Alternative Spring Breaks, Study Abroad, Student Leadership and Development

Minimum Knowledge and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in related field, Masters preferred
• Three (3) years of progressively responsible in leadership
• Demonstrable administrative and leadership experience
• Current and valid Texas driver’s license required
• Coaching Experience
• Experience supervising and supervising staff and interns
• Experience working with and leading diverse student and staff populations
• Experience managing budgets
• Excellent interpersonal relations skills
• Experience with the NJCAA preferred

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• The Executive Director is responsible for the direct oversight and management of the Dallas College Athletics Department personnel, program assessment, budget management, policy formation, logistics, and strategic planning.
• Responsible for the retention, completion, transfer and employment of student athletes.
• Implementation and leverage technology platforms such as Salesforce and Pieces to support the student care network.
• The Executive Director oversees:
o Athletic Directors
o Coaches
o Assistant Coaches
o Logistic Leaders
o E-Sports
• Oversees with the planning and coordination of all phases of intercollegiate operations and facilities for all sports.
• Supervise the administration of the Dallas College’s Intercollegiate Athletic Department.
• Provide oversight for compliance with all rules, regulations and policies set forth by the College, Administration, Board of Regents, and any other conferences in which Dallas College is a member and the NJCAA; ensure all Department personnel are aware of such regulations and are operating in full compliance.
• Plan and implement training for athletic coaches, staff, and student-athletes regarding rules, regulations and policies. Responsible for completion of all federal government, NJCAA and conference reports and implementation of reporting mechanisms for any alleged rule violations.
• Develop and maintain departmental policies and procedures necessary to effectively manage the College’s athletic program and fulfill all regulatory and legal requirements; monitor compliance with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972.
• Provide successful fiscal management of the athletic program; maintain the fiscal integrity of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics fiscal resources in a manner that maintains departmental solvency and complies with Dallas College requirements; develop, implement and monitor annual operating budgets; exercise appropriate signature authority on all financial accounts and payroll approvals.
• Provide leadership for the development and implementation of the revenue-generating activities of the Department of Athletics and Recreational Sports; engage in fund-raising activities on a continuous basis; identify and pursue sponsorship opportunities with local and regional businesses.
• Develop and maintain relationships with external constituencies including media, donors, sponsors, booster groups, community groups, alumni, and parents of student athletes.
• Direct the hiring process for all head coaches; complete or direct required annual performance evaluations for employees.
• Develop long-range plans for Athletics that are consistent with the College’s strategic plan and priorities.
• Promote the academic success of student athletes.
• Delegate responsibilities to ensure the efficient and productive operation of all administrative activities and athletic events.
• Attend relevant community-based events to promote Dallas College’s athletic programs.
• Organize, direct and participate in activities that promote a positive public image for the College.
• Serve on College, NJCAA and committees, as appropriate.
• Serve as liaison for Dallas College sport committees.
• Approve all non-conference game contracts.
• Collaborate with Camps and Conferences on athletic camps.
• Provide oversight of Recreation Sports and Facilities to plan, construct, maintain and refurbish both athletic and recreation sports facilities.
• Promote and maintain cooperative College-wide relationships to ensure effective, efficient and collaborative efforts related to athletic events, staffing, facilities and operations.
• Collaborate on the Intercollegiate Athletic Facilities Maintenance and Improvement Plan.
• Support the Accreditation Process
• Fulfill all reporting requirements associated with illegal and irresponsible behaviors where student athletes are involved, including investigation of all reported incidents, reporting to College administration, reporting to College and local police departments, reporting to and coordination with the Dean of Students and Student Engagement, and reporting to the CARE team; enforce appropriate disciplinary action with student athletes as circumstances dictate…… click apply for full job detailsTracking
