Custom Processing Services provides contract manufacturing/toll processing services to a wide variety of industries. Specialized processes center on particle size reduction using a number of methods including jaw crushing, pulverizing, micronizing and media milling. Additional services such as flash drying, surface treatments, blending, dispersing and packaging are also available. The Processing Pros provide new product development assistance from R concepts through their commercialization. In addition to CPS’s technical grade facilities, a state-of-the art, dedicated building is available for cGMP processing. Job DescriptionThe Senior Accountant reports directly to the CFO and is a critical part of the Custom Processing Services finance team. This role helps ensure financial strength for the business and is responsible for invoicing, accounts receivable (AR), month-end close, financial reporting, accounts payable (AP), contract compliance, and a little HR administration. Specific job responsibilities and success factors are as follows:Job ResponsibilitiesEnsures accuracy and efficiency of the accounting systems while properly managing transactions and financial reporting.Complete monthly close, account reconciliations and year-end closing process, including reconciliation of all balance sheet amounts.Prepare timely company financial statements and review for accuracy and clarity.Manage tax compliance for various state, local and federal taxes including sales and use tax, property, payroll and income taxes.Reconcile processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances.Charge expenses to GL accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoice/expense reports.Pay vendors by monitoring discount opportunities; verifying federal ID numbers; scheduling and preparing checks; resolving purchase order, contract, invoice, or payment discrepancies and documentation; ensuring credit is received for outstanding memos; issuing stop-payments or purchase order amendments.Verify vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions.Verify expense reports and requests for advances; prepare checks.Maintain accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions.Post customer payments by recording checks and credit card transactions.Verify validity of account discrepancies by obtaining and investigating information from sales, trade promotions, customer service departments, and from customers.Manage collections by examining customer payment plans, payment history, credit line; coordinating contact with collections department.Summarize receivables by maintaining invoice accounts; verifying totals; preparing report.Maintain historical records by scanning and filing documents.Protect the organization’s value by keeping information confidential.Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.Accomplish accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.Success FactorsClose month-end by the 15th of the month following the close month.Commissions reporting accurate and on time each month.Bank and credit card reconciliations within two weeks of receipt.Work with staff to ensure weekly Accounting KPI’s are met and exceeded. Report weekly.Manage year-end closing, including QuickBooks archiving.Interface with our CPA firm as needed for year-end entries and others as needed.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsThe ideal candidate has demonstrated experience in QuickBooks Desktop, invoicing, accounts receivable (AR), month-end close, financial reporting, and accounts payable (AP).
