Sanford / Lake Mary, Florida law firm specializing in health law, civil litigation and medical malpractice has an immediate opening for an experienced Paralegal/legal assistantwho is highly motivated, very organized, able to multitask in a fast-paced litigation environment, able to follow instructions, and a quick learner to join our team. We are seeking a reliable and dependable professional candidate with meticulous attention to detail who has 4-6+ years of related experience from a law firm along with a minimum 2-year degree who will provide direct support to the managing partner and associate attorneys. Interested candidates please send resumes.Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Drafting and proofreading of documents such as correspondence, pleadings, records review, deposition preparation, motions, orders, and discovery, including transcribing recorded dictation.Assisting with, preparing, tracking, and organizing discovery requests and responses (both outgoing and incoming)Document/file management, organize and maintain all legal files kept on-site in addition to maintaining electronic-filing databases.Scheduling and calendar management for the attorneys and clients. Ensuring all deadlines are correctly calendared and handled timely.Providing updates on file status, assignments, and deadlines.Written and verbal communications with clients, opposing counsel, expert witnesses, judicial assistants and/or court personnel.Performing various other office and administrative duties such as reception duties, scanning, photocopying, faxing, filing documents, assembly of exhibits, assembly of trial materials, etc.Receive and prepare E-filings in Florida courts.Job Requirements: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) Excellent communication skills both verbal and written (spelling, grammar and punctuation). Minimum 2-year degree/ 4-year degree is highly preferred. 4-6+ years of related experience in a law firm. Excellent legal research skills, drafting skills, and analytical ability. Polished, professional & articulate. Understanding and knowledge of the court procedures process, Florida legal experience is a must. Must be punctual and reliable with a strong work ethic. Must be detail-oriented with solid organizational and follow up skills. Medical terminology and medical chronology experience preferred, but not required. Prior litigation experience required. Medical malpractice experience (Defense or Plaintiff) is required. Ability to work well under pressure as well as independently and be quick learner. A history of dependability and punctuality, including availability and willingness to work overtime on nights and weekends as needed or requested.The ability to multitask, remain poised under pressure, and meet strict time deadlines.Must type a minimum of 65-70wpm.Experience with PCLaw is a plus.The ability to pass a full background check, and have reliable transportation.Tracking
