Position: Health and Nutrition Specialist

Pay Range: 19.17 – 21.09/Hour

Primary Responsibilities: Reports to Health and Nutrition Team Leader; works with neighborhood and community centers staff. Directly responsible for ensuring health and nutrition services in all child development centers are in compliance with Child and Adult Care Food Program and Head Start Performance Standards. Monitors health and nutrition services in child development centers. Maintains records as required by the Child Care Food Program. In collaboration with Center Managers, provides technical assistance to center staff that meets funding source requirements and to ensure program outcomes as appropriate.

Minimum Physical Requirements: Screening, physicals and testing required by funding source, licensing and/or other regulations; current TB skin test; capability of lifting 40 pounds.

Desired Education: Bachelor or Associate Degree in nutrition, public health, or child development.
Desired Job Experience Two years of relevant experience. Certifications Required Valid Kentucky driver’s license and proof of insurability; state criminal records check; Food Handler’s Permit; CPR, First Aid.

Other Qualifications: Skill and training in computerized word-processing and spreadsheets is required. Working knowledge of low income people and demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of low-income people; good oral and written communication skills. Reliable transportation for work-related travel.
