In accordance with Executive order 11246 (as amended), the College of Marin is an Equal Opportunity Employer.POSITION OVERVIEW: The Police Officer identifies potential problems regarding welfare, safety and/or security of students, personnel, visitors and/or site; maintains safety on campus by enforcing disciplinary policies and regulations; communicates information and responding to inquires; and provides emergency care to students and other individuals.Essential Functions Administers first aid and/or CPR for the purpose of providing immediate emergency medical care.Arrests individuals suspected of engaging in illegal activities for the purpose of apprehending suspects and preventing further illegal activities.Assists community law enforcement personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities on campus.Collaborates with other agencies (e.g. law enforcement, community professionals, disaster planners, etc.) for the purpose of communicating and/or receiving information regarding situations that may affect campus safety.Communicates district policies and enforcement procedures to students, personnel and visitors for the purpose of ensuring their understanding and the potential consequences of violation.Directs emergency operations center (e.g. authorizing emergency vehicle access to campus; securing buildings and/or facilities; notifying community agency personnel, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining campus security.Investigates potential campus crimes and/or student related community incidents for the purpose of resolving conflicts and/or referring to outside agency for resolution.Patrols campus facilities (e.g. grounds, roads, buildings, adjacent areas, etc.) for the purpose of providing administrative visibility, maintaining security, and deterring crime.Prepares documentation (e.g. incident and activity reports, security logs, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information.Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of addressing immediate safety concerns.Testifies in court proceedings for the purpose of providing information and documenting of illegal activity.Trains new officers, cadets, volunteers, etc. for the purpose of ensuring compliance to applicable district policies, laws and proceduresOTHER FUNCTIONSAssists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.Requirements & Desirables REQUIREMENTS1.) Graduation from high school or the equivalent; and2.) Basic P.O.S.T. Certification or the equivalent (Intermediate P.O.S.T. Certification is desirable); and3.) Job related experience; and4.) Valid California driver’s license; and5.) Current CPR/First Aid Certification or have obtained or renewed certification before hiring; and6.)
