The City of Aventura is seeking a mission driven, solution and community oriented, experienced candidate with management and planning credentials for the position of Community Development Director. Aventura, known as the City of Excellence, was incorporated in 1995 and is a young, vibrant, full-service municipality with a diverse demographic base and is recognized internationally as a premier location in which to live, shop and play. The candidate will be a hands-on leader and mentor lead the Community Development team in advocating for best practice programs and services in Planning & Zoning, Building Permitting & Inspection and Code Compliance. The Community Development Director reports directly to the City Manager and oversees both City employees and contractors with a departmental budget of $2.6 million.Interested candidates must complete the City’s application and upload their resume. This is a department director position involving responsible administrative and technical work in planning, organizing and directing the City’s planning & zoning, building permitting & inspection, code compliance, and local business tax receipt divisions.
