Cell therapy-focused biotech near San Francisco seeking a motivated and collaborative PhD with a strong background in immunology to drive efforts in generating a broad panel of novel CAR–chimeric antigen receptor–binders for diverse targets. Will implement antibody discovery approaches such as novel immunization, selection, and single B cell cloning. Will implement screening processes for CAR binder lead identification for both validation and therapeutic targets for diverse therapeutic indications. Will apply creativity, independence, and collaboration and contribute advanced experimental design and implementation skills in primary cell culture, hybridoma, cytokine analysis and cytoxicity assays to develop more potent platform-cell therapies. Will build upon technical and leadership skills as a key contributor and strategic voice withing the R&D group while working with a diverse team of colleagues.

*** PhD in immunology or relevant scientific or engineering discipline.
*** 0 to 3 year’s industry experience or relevant academic and/or post doc experience applying lab techniques in primary cell culture, hybridoma, and cytokine analysis and cytoxicity assays.
*** Expertise in data analysis using tools such as Prism, Excel, FlowJo, etc.
*** Demonstrated creativity & initiative relevant to proposing new approaches and analyses to generate more potent platform-cell products.
*** Creativity, analytical and problem-solving skills, and the initiative to provide a strategic voice in experimental approaches would all be welcome within this highly-collaborative and multi-disciplined research team.
*** Desired (though not essential) skills include the following: a) antibody structure function and engineering for further optimization of properties for lead selection; b) flow-based cell screening assays for cell surface binding & activation for binder hit selection; c) experience with Berkeley Lights Beacon to support identifying binder-properties of interest through single B cell cloning; or d)) immunology research applied to cell-therapy T cell or NK cell biology.
