Apex Systems is looking for a Sr. QC Analyst in Albany, OR!

Start Date: ASAP

Work Type: 3 month Contract to Hire, based off of performance

PR: $33 – $36/hr

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Take lead in Troubleshooting analytical instruments to completion
  • Work independently on assigned projects
  • Obtain bids and estimates from vendors
  • Proficient in chromatographic assays
  • Represent QC in cross-functional technical meetings, if necessary
  • Evaluate procedure revision, as necessary
  • Participate in method validation/transfer from external vendors
  • Serve as a shift lead for assigned shift
  • Serve as subject matter expert for specialized technological platform
  • Work on critical GMP sample testing
  • Stand in for QC Manager, as required
  • Be responsible for in-process testing to support production
  • Obtain clear instruction from shift supervisors and/or project managers for IP testing
  • Analyze raw materials, evaluation samples, finished product
  • Verify balances and pipettes as required by internal procedure
  • Wash used glassware according to established procedure, as necessary
  • Log in new samples in appropriate database
  • Review “Release” labels and sticker product containers, as required
  • Verify “Release” labels
  • Perform necessary housekeeping tasks, as required
  • Handle in-process testing with good understanding of the reactions running spikes
  • Follow standard operating procedures for general operating and testing
  • Maintain clear communication with other QC staff
  • Order lab supplies, as necessary
  • Initiate Incident Reports and non-conformances, as required
  • Complete the paperwork and report results as required by internal procedure
  • Provide data and results in a professional manner and-maintain records for good documentation
  • Maintain and run instruments as per supplier instructions or laboratory procedures
  • Practice good hygiene according to good laboratory practices and safety regulations
  • Apply good documentation practices
  • Review peer’s lab write-ups
  • Capable of using computers for handling instruments and performing simple operation
  • Work in any shift or off-hour shift as per requirement of the company
  • Interact and support production, R&D, and management on a regular basis
  • Review SOPs and batch records, as required
  • Comply with all applicable regulatory requirements as specified by the company
  • Maintain Quality systems
  • Initiate and lead investigation related to lab results, e.g. OOS, OOT events
  • Initiate method and operating procedure revision process
  • Prior experience performing preventative maintenance on lab equipment
  • Understanding of Quality systems

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Chemistry, Chemical or other technical related field with 8+ years of experience, or AA degree with 6+ years of experience, or MS degree with 3+ year of experience
  • Experience defined as consisting of analytical testing in support of QC testing in an R&D lab setting
  • Experience using analytical equipment including, but not limited to, HPLC, TLC, FTIR, NMR, Optical rotation, Melting point, Moisture Analyzer, Rotor evaporator, Balances, Spectrophotometer, and Oven.

Soft Skills:

  • Ability to work in a team environment, as well as independently
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate leadership ability
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively analyze data and compile reports and findings
  • Familiar with Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Proficient in PowerPoint
